Lunar Standstill
Five thousand years ago our
ancestors gathered at the north end of the stone avenue in the
beautiful site of Callanish to watch the moon captured by the sacred
stones of the circle. They had created this spectacular, beautiful
and mysterious illusion. Living in harmony with the land and
according to the heavens they saw that the sun never deviated from
its path, the ecliptic. The moon however, in her cycle swings 5'
north or south of the sun's path and it is this swing which creates
extremities, giving the moon a most southerly and most northerly
standstill point. It is when the moon is at its most southerly
standstill, especially at extreme latitudes north, that it only just
skims the horizon. What the ancients saw was the moon rise gently
out of the Sleeping Beauty hills (resembling a supine goddess)
skimming the stones of the east row and the horizon, setting briefly
into a hill then regleaming dramatically in the stone circle at the
foot of the great megalith.
The last time this amazing
phenomenon was seen was in 1987/8 and it will occur again once a
month between 2005-7 when visitors from all over the world will
gather in the hope of seeing it. Standing in the right position one
can be photographed completely silhouetted by the moon, or indeed
further to the west one can stand as the High Priestess did in
ancient times as if she were holding the disc of the moon in her
outstretched hands.
The historian, Diodorus of Sicily,
wrote in 50BC that from "...a circular temple on the island of
Hyperborean, the moon appeared to be close to the earth and that the
gods visited the island every 19 years"
CALLANISH STANDING STONES
Callanish
Standing Stones predate Stonehenge and possibly the
Egyptian Pyramids, all three sites both figure prominently on the planetary crystalline grid
and there
is a major geomantic link between Callanish and the Giza complex in
Egypt which includes the Great Pyramid. The main site at Callanish,
has a lunar orientation; however there are many sites and stones in
the area and each seemed to have specific functions. There is a circle
for those looking for a direction in life, a funery site, a site for
the Equinox and other astronomical events, mostly to the moon but some to sun. Akashic
information tells us that after the final destruction of Atlantis
the primary post-Atlantean mystery school complex was established on
the Scottish Western Isle of Lewis and was sited in the same area
where gigantic megalithic stones were subsequently erected at Callanish.
The main site, Site 1, is an
amplifier and during the period of the standstill will draw down the
energy exuded by the moon, amplify the signal and reverberate it
along the Ley lines ( the Earth's equivalent of meridians), thus
they will be reenergised causing them to widen dramatically and to
send out a much stronger signal. For a few months during 2006, the
entire grid will broaden out until it becomes a blanket of energy,
covering every inch of the land.
The builders of this magnificent
site appreciated these standstills as clarion calls, heralding times
of great awakening and tremendous transformation. This phenomenon
could touch your life in a tangible and positive way. Astrologers
say we will be able to feel the influence of the lunar standstill
all year long, that it can serve as a "cosmic catalyst" and that
2006 is due to be an amazing year for all of us.

Why
Workshops in Lewis?
I
visited Lewis in 2001 and experienced a beauty which has been
tugging at my heart strings ever since. The beaches are beyond
compare. The following was taken from

plenty of other info available if you wish to find out more.

ents living in the main port of
Stornoway
alone. Bursting with world famous archaeological sites, Lewis holds

'Callanish Stones,' (which predate the Egyptian

Carloway Broch (roundhouse)
the Norse mill house
and many more.
The
west coast of these islands receives the full impact of the North
Atlantic swells and has the most consistent surf in Europe. The whole
landscape of the island is built for adventure with great sea cliffs
to abseil and bays and islands to explore by kayak or boat. Common
seals fill the harbour and it is likely that you will spot dolphins,
whales and sharks if you venture out onto the water”.
Those of you who have already done workshops in a residential setting
will know the benefits of simply getting away from it all and really
soaking in the workshop given. It’s best to take at least a day either
side of the workshop to explore this wonderful island & have some “me”
time. My own inner experiences have drawn me to do these workshops in
this particular place at this particular time and I know from feedback
from those who have been with me that they share similar experiences
and feelings. However it will simply appeal to you or not, you may not
know why but will surely know if it is for you. My inner conviction is
that the whole experience will be a magical one of remembering and
simply becoming more of what we already are.

SPRING EQUINOX
Spring Equinox is the time of year when lightness and darkness are
in equilibrium. Equinox means "equal night" and anywhere on the
Earth, given a level horizon, the sun rises due east, and sets due
west. Equal day and night. Then the balance tips and light dominates
the days. As the days become brighter and warmer, new life emerges,
birds sing and we all wake from the gloomy spell of winter - spring
is here!
With this movement and reawakening
from hibernation we naturally want to stretch, to reach out, to
sense what we want for ourselves from the abundance of the coming
year. This feeling is a joy to establish in our lives, the feeling
of the new energy within nature and the world. Every one of us has
felt this directly or through the world around us, we each have our
own memories of it. Equinox is a time to consciously re-connect with
it, to meditate in search of a sense of renewal and direction, to
heal the heart and soul after the darkness of the short days, to
allow ourselves to blossom and grow stronger for the forthcoming
year. Take this time to spring clean the mind, get rid of the winter
blues and unwanted past influences, to concentrate on new plans.
Just as those seeds planted when the leaves turned and lay dormant
through the winter are now visible above the surface of the earth so
the ideas we've been nurturing become manifest. Celebrate them in
this new phase of life.
